What is Parent-Child Dedication?

Parent-Child Dedication follows the example set in the Bible of Mary and Joseph bringing Jesus to the temple for His dedication. Luke 2:21-40.

Parent-Child Dedication is a time for parents to publicly commit themselves to raise their child in the training and instruction of the Lord. Through this special service parents announce before God, family, and friends their commitment.

Dedicating your child is not the same as baptism. We believe baptism should occur when an individual is old enough to make that decision. Parent-Child Dedication focuses on the commitment you are making on behalf of your child, with the desire that one day, your child will receive Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior.

Parents are required to attend a Parent-Child Dedication Class where you will receive information about the importance of dedicating your child to God and the importance of the commitment you are making with God on behalf of your child and your responsibility to raise your child to know, love, and serve the Lord.

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Our next Parent-Child dedication is:
Sunday, April 29th at 5 PM in the Worship Center
Reception will follow in South Central Court

The mission of Central Kids is to “Partner with families to build the next generation of Christ Followers.” As part of this mission we believe it is vital for our parents to understand and be committed to their role as the primary disciplers of their children. To help better equip our parents we have redesigned how we do Parent-Child Dedication. First, we have moved our Parent-Child Dedication to its own service that will be held twice a year. Second In order to participate in the Parent-Child Dedication Service we have designed a short class for our parents that will help them to better understand their role as Christian parents.  They need to only attend one of the two classes offered.

Attendance at one class is required.
